Choosing when to rent your boat in Denia can make all the difference, but the weather tends to be mild throughout the year, with temperatures increasing significantly in the summer months. Due to the town’s popularity in the sailing community, many people choose to charter a yacht in July and August, leading to crowded marinas. It could be preferable to choose to sail in spring or autumn, when the weather is still gorgeous, and the marinas have a little more space. Take time to enjoy a swim or snorkel in the Mediterranean thanks to the pleasant temperatures of roughly 22°C. Denia’s 20km stretch of coastline is waiting to be explored in the enviable Spanish sunshine!
It would not be a trip to Denia without a visit to the historical emblem of the town, which is visible from all points – even your yacht. Dating back to the 11th century, the impressive fortification stands decorated with green vegetation and is perched on a cliff that blends the colours of stone together to give the appearance of one great structure. Explore the remains of the castle during your charter holiday and let the history of Denia reveal itself to you. It also offers breathtaking views of the entire town and is sure to be a highlight of your sailing trip.
An abundance of beaches, coves, and golden coastlines outline the town of Denia and are a perfect opportunity to escape to some tranquility. Marineta Casiana Beach is lively and bustling, with ample space to practice your parasailing, jet skiing, and more. Even better: it is very close to the port, meaning you do not have far to travel from your yacht charter. However, if you want to see truly authentic Spanish coastline that is less crowded during the day, Les Deveses Denia Beach is worth a visit. Sail here to avail of the heavenly turquoise waters and curious flora and fauna native to the area. There are plenty of other locations to be discovered as you sail, so keep your eyes peeled for something unique!
As stated previously, Denia benefits from a prime location between Alicante and Valencia, and a relatively short sail to the Balearics. Those who charter a yacht in this region of Spain enjoy the immensely stunning views on their way to these popular islands, before docking for the day and exploring. There are plenty of amazing restaurants, bars, and taverns, and the natural landscape is worthy of exploration by foot or by sail. The trip to the islands from Denia is not too difficult due to the lack of dominating currents, and there are plenty of good marinas in Ibiza, Menorca, and Mallorca to dock for the day.
Sample some of Spain’s finest dishes in Denia thanks to a host of superb restaurants to visit during your sailing holiday. Fans of seafood will want to try the exquisite meals in Aitana, where the selection of fruits de la mér will leave you astounded. The lively atmosphere of Els Tomassets is always popular with locals and tourists alike and is located a short walk from the marina where you leave your chartered yacht. If you do not mind waiting a short time for a table, or have the savvy to book ahead well in advance, then El Baret de Miquel is one of the best restaurants on the whole coast. You will certainly not be disappointed with any of the dining options available to you during your sailing holiday in Denia.
Denia is well connected through a variety of modes of transport, meaning getting to your chartered yacht is simple and stress-free. The two closest airports are Alicante-Elche Airport and Valencia-Manises Airport, which offer a multitude of international routes in Europe and further. These airports are connected to the town with bus routes, taxis, and airport transfers. Train services are also offered from both Alicante and Valencia, meaning if you are travelling from a European destination, you could make the journey without the need for a flight. The same goes for bus routes, with Denia being well connected. If you wish, you can also choose to sail from another destination to the port.
