Saint Mandrier

Saint Mandrier

Situated on the peninsula of the same name, Saint-Mandrier nearly closes the Bay of Toulon. It is a place that has been welcoming sailors since ancient times seeing as the Phoenicians and Romans used to come here to moor. The peninsula was an island at the time, known as the Isle de Sépet. It ended up being connected to the continent with the construction of a causeway (isthme des Sablettes) in the 17th century. There are many beaches and viewpoints around offering spectacular vistas.
