Genoa

Located in the northwest part of the Italian peninsula Genoa is also known as 'The Gate to the Mediterranean'. The history of Genoa is closely linked to the Old Port which has evolved to be the the largest one in the entire Italy. Genova is placed in a bay of the Ligurian Sea and attracts with its superb facilities for sailors. During your trip you cannot miss one of the landmarks which is Genoa La Lanterna lighthouse. Genova is a good base for a cruise along the ligurian coast to visit destinations such as Santa Margharita, Portofino or Portovenere. Alternatively you can choose the opposite direction and head for the Cote d'Azur.
