Arcachon Bay

Located in the Landes de Gascogne, Arcachon Bay is a 155 km ² part of the Atlantic Ocean. The Bay of Arcachon is known for the practice of oyster farming, fishing and boating. The coast is mostly flat and sandy which gives excellent opportunities for many water activities. The Bay of Acachon is an inland sea with lagoon-coloured water contrasting with white sand dunes. From the top of the Dune du Pilat you can see the beautiful surroundings including Landes forest. In the Arcachon Bay there are many town worth calling at. One of them is Andernos with its Gallo-Roman remains and jazz festival. The city of Arcachon is has become to be famous as the first healthcare resort- take a deep breath and enjoy clean air and lagoon waters of the bay. Moor or anchor your boat at Cap Ferret to get to the top of the lighthouse and enjoy the Arcachon Bay landscapes worthy of postcards.
