If you want to charter your sailboat by day and party by night, Rhodes might just be the place for you. With numerous local bars, beach bars and cocktail bars, the island can cater to and satisfy everybody’s individual needs. Special events and parties are often thrown during the year with celebrity guest appearances, all of which adds to the dynamic and lively character of the city. But don’t worry, it’s not party central and in each part of the island there are also many restaurants for those who would prefer to sample another Rhodian course to another beverage.
Stealing the title as the hidden treasure of Rhodes, make sure not to miss a trip to Lindos, a town located in the south of the island. With three peaceful beaches to choose from, startling views to discover and ancient ruins and temples to explore, this magical spot really does have something for everybody. The absence of cars around the town is a principal part of its charm and it is therefore only possible to access it by boat or by bus – the perfect excuse to use your sailboat charter to explore it! We would recommend using your sailboat to get a closer look at one of the island’s most interesting archaeological sites, the Acropolis, which offers exceptional views of the island and beyond.
Despite that the sun shines an average of 300 days of the year in Rhodes, its landscape and greenery are certainly not dried out nor withered. Covered with beautiful pine trees, the inner island seems like a country park, authentic and rural. Hop off your sailboat charter onto some dry land; climbing the hills and mountains on the island is sure to give you a sense of space and perspective. On your wanders, you will not only spot numerous fields dotted with wild flowers in bloom but also flourishing vine yards – and you can sample the finished product later!
Gravel beaches, pebble beaches, sandy beaches, beaches perfect to bathe in, beaches with astonishing views, beaches with umbrellas to sunbathe, beaches for water sports and beaches to spend a romantic evening watching the sun set: you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a beach! It is the countless array of distinct and sensational beaches on the island which make it the perfect destination for a sailboat charter.
Stuck for ideas and want to use your sailboat charter in Rhodes to try something different? With so many new water sport centres and aqua parks to choose from (Trekking Hellas, Tsambikos Watersports and Trident Diving School, to name a few) there’s no excuse not to embark on a unique adventure. While parasailing and windsurfing are the most popular water sports on the island, there are also plenty of companies with whom you can do jetski, waterski, cat sailing and kayaking. In summer, the Meltemi wind blows most days but the sea remains calm which means the conditions are perfect for those wanting to take part in water sports. Everybody can give the activities a go, whether you are beginner, intermediate or advanced. You’ll find the best waves along the western coast which is more subject to higher winds, making it the spot with ideal conditions for surfers.
With flights from most major airlines, it’s no wonder that Rhodes is the perfect destination for holidaymakers. Outside the airport is a taxi rank and frequent buses so within no time, you’ll be at your sailboat charter, ready to head off and explore the surrounding areas! There is also a regular ferry service from Athens and Turkey, which often stops at neighbouring islands on route. The currency is the Euro and while the local language of the island is Greek, many people on the island also speak English.
