Restaurants that the Le Marin tourist board recommends include: Mango Bay, Chez Lucie, Zanzibar Restaurant and Wendie’s. Restaurants which are placed in more quiet areas often tend to serve higher-quality food rather than the restaurants which are found in touristy areas. The bars and cafes along the marina or by the beaches are excellent stop-offs if in need of a quick beverage but try to wander off the beaten track if in search of more authentic, local cuisine. Prices will be cheaper too. If you’d rather eat aboard your luxury sailboat charter in Le Marin, there are plenty of markets which serve a selection of local produce and fresh fruit and vegetables. Some markets even serve spices, local liqueurs, meat and fresh fish.
Perfect for those nature-lovers, Le Marin is flooded with stunning parks and gardens which make for a peaceful walks and leisurely strolls. Observe, feel, touch – all your senses will be awakened! The two parks which we would recommend are: the Parc Ethno – Botanique which houses a variety of species and beautiful plants, and secondly, the Jardin Creole which dates to 1831. On site, you can also opt for a guided tour which will help you to understand the history of the gardens as well as learn more about the fruit and spices grown there.
Wherever you are in the world, it’s always enjoyable to engage with natural sites becoming being closer to nature always makes us feel calmer and more at one with the world. During your sailboat charter in Le Marin, you will find a fair share of lakes, caves, gulfs and countryside to explore. There are various view points including the view point at Morne Gommier which offers an astounding 360-degree panoramic view over the town and the Atlantic coast. It costs 2 euros to enter the site, but you couldn’t put a price on a view like that, so we really recommend a visit. In the region, there are also plenty of tourist shops and boutiques where you buy souvenirs and try local products. Pick up your souvenirs from your trip here!
La Marin has many sites of art and culture on offer. The wall at the Roger Bonaro stadium is a wall painted by various artists and is cool to see. In the market places, you can meet talented artists who are sculpting unique works which are available for purchase by the public. By the port, there are also many boutique stalls which make for a lovely afternoon of wandering.
Taking part in nautical sports amid awe-inspiring nature will undoubtedly make for unforgettable holidays. There are plenty of opportunities to hire equipment for surfing, snorkelling or kayaking as well as a range of other water sports, so you can explore all of what this paradisiac place has to offer. The wind in the Antilles archipelago is strong and regular which means that activities like kitesurfing or windsurfing are great activities to carry out. For those who have never tried kitesurfing before, it is best to start in bays which are protected from wind and offer more shelter. This means you can get used to the sport in total safety and grow your confidence. For more experienced kite surfers, you can venture to Fort-de-France, Fort Trabaud, Diamant or Cap Chevalier if you wish to face more challenging currents.
An alternative great activity for the afternoon or to add to your charter itinerary is dolphin spotting. Few people know it, but dolphins are present all year round in Martinique and are easy to spot. This is an activity which can unite and delight all the family. Being able to spot these majestic animals in their natural environment is calming and peaceful. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even grab your snorkel gear and swim alongside these beautiful creatures!
Finish off your afternoon by exploring the west side of Martinique. Relatively close to Le Marin lies a pleasant village called Le Morne-Vert, which is tucked into a beautiful countryside and luscious vegetation. This haven of perfect landscape recalls Switzerland with its fresh and inspiring natural surroundings. This green and mountainous terrain is perfect for sunset hikes and calming evening strolls. There are hilly areas in the region, but a little extra climbing is worth it for the remarkable view of the sun shining over the Caribbean Sea. Make sure to visit the striking Saint-Martin church when you are in the region, a beautiful church where you can learn and familiarise yourself with years of history and culture.
