Foster Botanic Gardens lie in the heart of the animated city centre: a floral paradise which offers a striking contrast to the urban life surrounding it. The oldest botanical garden in Honolulu, it is home to an incredible variety of mature, tropical plants. When you visit, take time to explore the green house, the butterfly garden, the palm tree garden and the collection of pre-historic plants as well as the souvenir shop. You can follow a guided tour around the site or guide yourself using the map provided to each visitor. Don’t leave your camera at home when you visit!
Iolani Palace is a national historical monument situated in the centre of Honolulu. This royal residence is open for the public to explore and visit, providing insight into the life of the monarchy on the island. There are guided tours around the palace and its beautiful grounds which are carefully maintained and preserved.
If you have never visited an active and operating cattle farm or ranch, Kualoa Ranch is a site not to miss during your sailboat charter in Hawaii. At the ranch, you can take a bus ride to discover the 1620 hectares of natural and historical beauty, as well as to breathe some fresh air. Many famous films have been shot in this amazing zone, including Jurassic Park and Godzilla. It’s a natural reserve and a conservation district of marine life. Access is limited so you must plan this visit carefully. The beach is usually packed during the morning and if you want a more relaxed visit, we would recommend late afternoon. On site, you can take a tram to the edge of the crater to have an incredible view of the bay or you can opt for hiking or snorkelling along the coast. However you choose to spend your time in this little slice of paradise, a visit here during your sailboat charter in Hawaii is well worth it.
Founded in 1889, Bishop Museum is a history and science museum found in the city-centre and is an excellent source of culture and art. It is the biggest museum in Hawaii and home to a large collection of cultural Polynesian artefacts and historical specimens. The museum is open to the public throughout the year, except Tuesdays. There are numerous exhibitions to admire and there are also workshops and activities regularly organised by the museum. You can make traditional Hawaiian bracelets, for example or visit the planetarium. The possibilities are endless.
These waterfalls have a vertical drop of 46 metres. You can reach the waterfalls by hiking up a cliff, and the climb takes around 2 hours. However, there are lots of photo opportunities along the way. You can come across several ecosystems, spectacular scenes and amazing flora and fauna. It’s a natural environment so the path can be muddy or slippery, so make sure to be careful as you hike, and bring all the necessary equipment you need to feel safe. This may be adventurous for many, but it is an incredible adventure worth partaking in during your sailboat charter in Hawaii.
