While it is a popular tourist holiday location, it is for good reason. Packed with unique history and culture, Cancun has many surprises that are greater than just the traditional tourist route (although there is nothing wrong with this route either). Find yourself strolling the streets and taking in the distinctly Mexican feel of the architecture, bright colourways, and friendly locals. Visit the bustling Market 28 in downtown Cancun for a glimpse at some of the handmade local goods and crafts, such as blankets, pottery, leather goods, and much more.
If you would like to uncover more of the local culture, take a trip to the infamous Mayan ruins to experience the root of Mayan culture. Chichen Itza to the west in central Yucatan or Tulum to the south are both terrific options for studying the history of the Mayan people before your yacht rental in Cancun. Chichen Itza is the perfect distance for a day trip before your departure to the sea and there are plenty of buses that make the journey from Cancun.
Another essential part of culture is the food, which you will not want to miss out on here. From smoky, full flavours, to delicious meats, spices, fruits, and vegetables special to the region, your mouth will be watering at just the aroma of the local cuisine. Taste Yucatan tamales, wrapped in banana leaves instead of corn husks, or enjoy a tangy margarita on the beach while you bask in the sun. What could be better than this during a luxury yacht charter in Cancun?
A luxury yacht rental in Cancun is the best way to let the mystery and wonder of the sea enchant you. Dreaming of the magic under the surface? Swim with whale sharks, the largest fish in the world, which are generally around 12 metres long and weigh about 14 metric tons, off the coast of Cancun near Isla Mujeres, Isla Contoy, and Isla Holbox. These beautiful and majestic sharks are safe to swim alongside as they are not predators, but rather filter-feeders. Dolphin sightings are also common during a luxury yacht charter in Cancun. Many people are even able to swim near the dolphins as well!
More than just the natural flora and fauna of the sea, there are also manmade sculptures and artwork below the surface. The Underwater Museum of Art will have you in awe as you dive under to take a look at ceramic sculptures designed specifically to be underwater. If you would prefer to experience this artwork above the water, there are glass bottom boat tours from the museum so that everyone can enjoy these works. This is definitely a unique experience to see artwork, as well as the Great Mesoamerican Reef System, the second largest coral reef system in the world!
The temperature year-round is generally pleasant, between 22°C to 31°C; however, the best months to charter a luxury yacht in Cancun is between December and April, as the rainfall is the lowest and the winds are ideal. Expect sunshine and steady, strong winds around 14 kilometres per hour on average during these months.
To arrive, we suggest flying to the Cancun International Airport, which is a rather short 20-minute drive from downtown Cancun. There are also frequent buses, shuttles and public transportation options that operate between the city and the airport for much lower costs than a taxi.
