Catamaran charter in Calvi

Upper Corsica

Upper Corsica or ‘Haute-Corse’ is the north-eastern part of Corsica, separated from the south by the central mountain range known as ‘Les Monts’. Upper Corsica is bathed by the Tyrrhenian Sea to the east and the Mediterranean Sea to the west. The Gulf of Porto, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is also part of the Corsican National Park. It is a majestic place that you will be able to discover during your cruise. The exposure of the anchorages will not allow you to spend the night there however. You will be more sheltered in the Gulf of Girolata a little further north. After the North Point, explore the Scandola nature reserve and let yourself be surprised by the magic of this wonderful and wild site. A catamaran charter in Calvi is the perfect way to explore this region steeped in history and culture. After all, Calvi’s coast is regarded as a sailing paradise. During heavy swells however, we advise you to take shelter in the picturesque port of Saint-Florent. Few ports are easily accessible around ‘Cap Corse’ and it is advised not to sail too close to the reef. However, you will be able to take shelter in the fishing port of Centuri or the port of Macinaggio.

Sailing conditions in Upper Corsica

Spring and early autumn are the ideal seasons for catamaran charters in North Corsica as the temperatures are pleasant and the ports and anchorages are less crowded. The prevailing wind in summer is north-westerly that rises in the late morning and falls in the evening.
